Ice Cream with Plumps by Biljana

Ingredients
  • 1⅕ cup whole Milk
  • 1⅕ cups heavy Cream
  • ½ cup Ground Poppy Seeds
  • 4 large Egg Yolks
  • ⅔ cup Sugar
  • Salt
  • 2 cups Unpeeled Pitted Plums
  • ⅓ cup Sugar
  • ⅓ cup Freshly-Squeezed Lemon Juice
Instructions
  1. Stir together the cream, milk and poppy seeds in a heavy-bottomed saucepan over medium heat. Bring just to a boil, then turn off the heat.
  2. Beat the egg yolks and sugar in the bowl of a stand mixer or hand-held electric mixer on medium-high speed for 5 minutes, until creamy.
  3. Reduce the speed to low; add one ladle of the cream mixture to the yolks, beating until incorporated, then gradually add the remaining cream.
  4. Place plums in a 1 quart baking dish, add sugar and lemon juice, tossing gently to coat.
  5. Pour the whole mixture into your ice cream maker. Then swirl with plums.
  6. Keep in the freezer until ready to serve.
  7. Dig in and enjoy the flavors of autumn!
