It was my first trip to Hong Kong and I went to the traditional Hong Kong Restaurant – Dim Sum Restaurant. The flight was so heavy, more than 24 hours and I wanted to try national food.

Rules in Dim Sum Restaurants in Hong Kong are the same everywhere. They give you menu and you tip dishes, which you like. If you are lucky, and that restaurant is located in tourist’s area, menu would be in English.

In first time I was in classical China quarter, where they don’t see Europeans for ages. It’s really funny felling, when you are almost monkey in unknown jungles…

They tell you Hello! Communicate, touch and offer some goodies. In Chinese. And it’s so funny for them when they understand that you don’t know the language.

But let’s go back to Dim Sum. It’s the same thing as our pierogi. It is cooked and served in bamboo bowls. In one serve there are 3 or 4 pieces, and better to order a few dishes and enjoy different tastes.

Don’t worry, prices are low. The value of 1 serve is about 10-30 hrivnas. To Dim Sum they serve a special tea – puer, because traditionally Dim Sum it’s appetizer to tea.

I’ve eaten these amazing Dim Sums in different places, from expensive restaurants to little eateries. But I recommend visiting three restaurants in touristic area, with good prices. And the most important thing – it’s tasty!

Tim Ho Wan

This place is the cheapest restaurant in the world with Michelin Star. It’s not a restaurant, it’s eatery, but it’s so tasty there! Forget about service and comfort. Just enjoy tasty national food.

I recommend to visit it in the morning, when city sleeps and there is no a big turn. The place is so popular! About prices? 150 hrivnas for two!

One more restaurant with Michelin Star. Little bit comfortable, little bit expensive, but is tasty as the last one. Unlike Tim Ho Wan, where you can try traditional Hong Kong Dim Sums, here you can try Thai variant.

It’s one of my favorite non expensive restaurants in Hong Kong. My Hong Kong friends showed me that place and I go there every week. Besides tasty Dim Sums, try their rice noodles! It’s one more China classical dish.

Restaurant has a Michelin Star too. What about prices? Average bill is about 400 hrivnas for two. And be ready. A crazy queue. In every good restaurant in Hong Kong is turn.
