I have been always interested in grilled salmon recipes. I should confess, this is my most favourite fish dish. I can eat salmon in any form. And I always look for salmon recipes in various culinary books.

And, of course, I’ve got lots of different salmon recipes on my site. It will just suffice to mention salmon recipe of Jaakko Sorsa, or simple but extremely tasty salmon steak of Michelin-starred Jean-Pierre Jacob.

When I was in one of the best Moldovan restaurants I tasted one of the best grilled salmon recipe in my life. Believe me, it’s worth cooking. So here it is.

When I tried grilled cedar plank salmon fillet, I immediately recalled my walk in the woods.

Moldovan forests have special air. One can for a long time speculate about oxygen level, photosynthesis and the whole botany curriculum at school, but…

It’s easier to breathe in a Moldovan forest due to the silence.

It’s not that sinister and sulky web created by movie-makers. And not that cartoon filtered idyll. This silence is smooth, sparkling and belongs to me only. Such silence somewhere deep in the woods makes me feel on my own, but never alone.

It’s easier to breathe in a Moldovan forest due to its smells.

Bark, thin branches of bushes, hidden flowers. Green exuberant aroma of wild mint. Earthy deep smell of ant hills. Quiet whisper of sparkling stream. Harsh scent of dewy cedar. Your head is not spinning, but spiraling.

This is my nirvana.

And what is that you look for in a forest?
