I knew for a long time what hummus is, but tasted this dish for the first time just three weeks ago, when I was asked to take pictures by a well-known hummus producer. Its products are sold in supermarkets, and I decided to come and buy some samples of its products to the test.
I was really surprised when I noticed that it was not so simple to buy hummus, it was snapped up right in front of my eyes. Well, only at my third trip to the shop I was lucky enough to buy a few cans of hummus.
And from that very day I became addicted to the Arabian chickpea dishes. I ate hummus in the morning, in the afternoon and in the evening. Of course, I wanted to prepare this dish at home. A wonderful chef Aleksey Shvets . He did not just give me a hummus recipe, he cooked it, and I shot. And we ate hummus together.
So here is the hummus! Homemade Hummus with Paprika and Olive Oil Recipe. I give you a detailed recipe of this delicious oriental dish, and if you have not tried hummus before – urgently correct this unfortunate misunderstanding. The recipe is very simple, the only difficulty is to put dry chickpeas in water and leave for the night, well, and cook it for about an hour.
- Boiled cheakpeas – 400g
- Juice of one lemon (or to taste)
- Salt to taste
- Tahini paste – 80 g
- Water – 60 ml
- Cheackpeas break in pieces in the processor until smooth.
- Add tahini paste, salt, lemon juice and stir, gradually pouring a little water to make a soft homogeneous mass.
- Spread the hummus on a plate, doing deepening with the spoon in the center.
- Pour olive oil and sprinkle with paprika.
- You can also use any spices to taste, as well as pickled cucumbers and any greens except dill.
According to historians and archaeologists, hummus was a favorite dish of the Eastern rulers, Egyptian pharaohs, Roman emperors, and even the gods of ancient Greece. Perhaps that is why today cooks from different countries are arguing about the precedence of this amazing chickpeas dish cooking.
